Serial I/O for Modbus or WIB-netApplications
Connected via RS485 and communicating either Elpro or Modbus protocols, the 115S series expansion products are available in 3 versions of I/O count and are able to be used in the following modes:
- Expansion I/O for 105U wireless units
up to 10 x 115S units can be connected to each wireless unit via RS485 (up to 2 km long). - Serial I/O multiplexer
transfer I/O via RS485 - up to 32 units per multi-drop link. - Expansion I/O for Modbus devices
up to 31 x 115S units can be connected to each Modbus master via RS485 (up to 2 km long)
The Elpro 115S modules are designed to provide I/O expansion for other Elpro products like 105U module. The 115S modules support the Elpro E-Series protocol, and communicate serially via RS232 or RS485. Configuration is done via the
Elpro E-Series configuration utility.
The 115S modules also support Modbus protocol. They may be used as a Modbus slave with any 3rd-party Modbus device, or with the Elpro 105U-G module using Modbus. They support both MODBUS ASCII protocol, and serial unsigned MODBUS RTU, also known as “MODBUS binary”. The Modbus slave address of the 115S is selected via two rotary switches on the bottom panel of the case.
All 115S models provide digital inputs and outputs. Specific models provide analog inputs or analog outputs. Pulsed inputs and pulsed outputs are also available. Several modules may be connected to one master, allowing any combination of I/O types.
- Variety of application modes above with configurability of I/O products:
- Minimum configurable 8 (115S-11 has 16) digital I/O channels: each channel can be used as a volt free contact input or FET output (30VDC, 0.2A maximum)
- The first four digital inputs on the 115S-11 can function as a plulse input (max pulse rate 1KHz). All digital outputs can function as a pulse output (max 100Hz)
- Pulse inputs provide both totalized count and pulse rate as seperate values
- Analog inputs selectable as 'floating' dual-terminal differentiual unputs or commoned single-terminal inputs with configurable current (4 - 20Ma) or voltage (0 - 10) options (including scaling, zero and span parameters). All analog inputs have a high/low set point to determine a set-point status and 24VDC, 250mA is provided for loop powering field instruments
- Analog outputs selectable as single-terminal source or sink outputs with configurable current (4 - 20mA) or voltage (0 - 10) options
- Diagnostics including display I/O inputs and/or force I/O outputs and monitoring and confirming of communications
- Class 1 Div 2 hazardous area approval
